Week 3: Aura

            Walter Benjamin talks about art reproduction and how it impacts the actual meaning of the original art piece. I think art reproduction can be negative and can also be beneficial sometimes. Say there is art work from history incorrectly depicting a historical event, which there is a lot of. Specifically Native American artists have done this a lot with art. Art about native Americans when settlers first came to America is depicted from a white colonizers point a view. A lot of the paintings and portraits from that time are inaccurate and untruthful. Many Native American artists today have reproduced those inaccurate images of their ancestors and made it their own or made it more "accurate". My favorite example of this is by Wendy Red Star. Almost all her artwork mocks the original idea of native Americans and the notion that white settlers came and were peaceful, her art also has a modern twist. Week 2: Beauty

Beauty when it comes to artwork, for me, it's not so much about the looks of the art. I can find a liking in art piece I see, it's more the story that makes art beautiful for me. This self portrait is by Cindy Sherman. She was going to art school for painting in in Buffalo, New York. At the time Cindy kind of lost passion for painting and stopped.        Hi! My name is Caleese. I am a senior majoring in digital media with and emphasis in art. I got my associates in art at Palm Beach State in Florida. I want to become a graphic designer for all types of things, musicians, fashion designers, business owners. I enjoy painting and drawing, and I love music.       I chose this artwork as what I thought was a beautiful  piece. It is by artists Zim & Zou. They are French artists, their real names are Lucie Thomas and Thibault Zimmermann ( https://zimandzou.fr/ ). They have quite a few other successful window designs for Hermes and just in general. They don't mainly just do window displays. Their art is made of things like paper, wood, and thread. They draw and cute and glue their artworks together.
